However, if you prefer to stay in more casual clothing you’ll still be free to dine at venues such as Golden Lion and Kings Court.
On Gala Evenings, of which there is usually one or two per voyage, we invite you to put on your finest eveningwear for a night of heightened glamour. We also dress up the ship for the occasion and offer an extra special Gala Evening menu in your main dining room.
Gala Evenings follow one of a handful of themes, which include Black and White, Red and Gold, Roaring 20s, and Masquerade. You can find the theme for your Gala Evening(s) in My Cunard ahead of sailing. How far you embrace the theme is up to you. You could add a simple pocket square to a black tuxedo or colour-match your entire outfit to the theme.

Since her launch in 2004, Queen Mary 2 has been our proud flagship and, after the retirement of her sister ship Queen Elizabeth 2, the only true ocean liner still sailing the globe.
Designed by British architects, she was christened by her Godmother, Queen Elizabeth II, and named in honour of her predecessor, RMS Queen Mary.
Built in France, Queen Mary 2 was at one time the largest cruise ship in the world, and she remains the largest ocean liner ever built. Her keel was laid down in July 2002 and features the shipyard hull number G32 (which subsequently became the name of her nightclub).
After a float out in March 2003 and sea trials in November and September of the same year, she sailed her Maiden Voyage from Southampton to Fort Lauderdale on 12 January 2004, carrying 2,620 guests on board.
