Kennels on Queen Mary 2

A private outdoor sun deck. A personal escort onto the ship. A shoot with our ship’s photographer. Our cat and dog kennels on board Queen Mary 2 offer everything your pet needs to sail the Transatlantic Crossing in comfort and style.

Complimentary kennel amenities

As with all of our guest suites and staterooms, our kennels offer a few complimentary flourishes to ensure your pet enjoys every comfort on their voyage. As well as air conditioning to ensure a consistently pleasant temperature and a fleecy blanket they can curl up in, four-legged guests sailing with us will also be gifted to a fitted coat they can take home as a memento of their voyage.

Pet safety and wellbeing

The wellbeing of our guests is always our top priority at Cunard and that extends to our four-legged Cunarders too. Each pet sailing on Queen Mary 2 is issued with its own lifejacket upon boarding and, in the extremely rare event that our ship’s emergency alarm bells should sound, you will be able to collect your pet from the kennels and take it with you to your assigned muster station.

Kennel reservations

Kennels are available on Transatlantic Crossings sailing to or from Southampton, New York, or Hamburg on Queen Mary 2. Only cats and dogs are permitted, and reservations can only be made with an eligible guest booking. To enquire about kennel availability, or to book a kennel space once you’ve booked your voyage, please call our Customer Contact Centre or email kennels@cunard.com.

Feeding pets on board

To ensure your pet’s dietary requirements are met, we’ll contact you ahead of sailing with a choice of pet food brands we’re able to offer on board. If none of these meet your pet’s preference, you are welcome to bring your own pet food. Pets can be fed by their owners or the Kennel Master. Freshly cooked chicken, vegetables, and broth are also available to order on board, on request.

More about kennels

We’ve welcomed animals on board our ships for close to two centuries, and we continue to do so on our Transatlantic Crossings on board Queen Mary 2. Her air-conditioned kennels can accommodate up to 24 four-legged guests per sailing. What’s more, they offer your pet a wealth of complimentary luxuries to ensure they enjoy a relaxing and comfortable stay at sea.

Queen Mary 2’s cruise ship kennels are located on Deck 12 and feature an adjoining deck space where sea dogs (and cats) can stretch their legs in the fresh ocean air. To further cater to their unique needs, this area is equipped with a New York fire hydrant and a Liverpool lamp post, providing a dedicated space where pets can relieve themselves when nature calls.

As a Cunard Kennels guest, your cat or dog will be treated to a complimentary portrait session with our ship’s photographer and Kennel Master. The Kennel Master will dress in our iconic red bellhop uniform for the photoshoot, and we’ll provide plenty of props for your pet to wear and play with, including a Queen Mary 2 life ring, a Cunard jacket, and a miniature bellhop hat.
