Queen Mary 2’s family-friendly bars and lounges

On Queen Mary 2, your family-friendly options are the Commodore Club, Queens Room, Golden Lion Pub, Chart Room, Carinthia Lounge, and Pavilion Bar. All of these are open throughout the day (until early evening in the case of the Pavilion Bar), and children are welcome as long as they’re not seated at the bar. The Grills Lounge is also available, should you be staying in a Princess or Queens Grill suite.

The Commodore Club and Chart Room are elegant venues that exude style, and live music varies from pianists to string quartets. The Carinthia Lounge and Golden Lion Pub are more casual, both hosting a raft of fun events like quizzes, bingo and scavenger hunts. In the Golden Lion Pub, you’ll also find live sports.

The Queens Room is favoured by many families and is the location for lots of on board activities, from Zumba classes to Afternoon Tea. In the evenings, children are welcome to join in on the dance floor.

Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth’s family-friendly bars and lounges

Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth are sister ships and their layout is similar. Once again, you’ll find the Commodore Club, Queens Room, and Golden Lion, and on Queen Victoria the Chart Room. The Grills Lounge is open to families staying in a Princess or Queens Grill suite.

On both ships, you’ll find a relaxed, versatile space called the Winter Garden on Queen Victoria and the Garden Lounge on Queen Elizabeth. Inspired by Mediterranean-style conservatories, these venues host a range of activities during the day, and live music in the evening. They’re located between the Lido restaurant and the Pavilion pool, making for a convenient space to take time out.

The Pavilion bar and Lido bars are other popular options on these Queens, conveniently located close to the pools for when you need a break from all that swimming and sunbathing. Café Carinthia on Queen Elizabeth is reminiscent of a welcoming, European-style café.

All these venues are open throughout the day, and you’ll find a mixture of atmospheres and entertainment within them. As well as the Queens Room, you may find yourself returning again and again to the Winter Garden or Garden Lounge.

The Queens Room on board Queen Anne

Queen Anne’s family-friendly bars and lounges

Our newest Queen joined the Cunard fleet in May 2024 and brings with her a host of exciting bars and lounges. All the family are welcome at reimagined signature spaces, including the Commodore Club, Pavilion Bar, Queens Room, Golden Lion Pub, Carinthia Lounge, and Grills Lounge (for Grills guests).

New outdoor spaces on board include the Sky Bar, Panorama Pool Club, and Cabana. The Sky Bar is at the Observation Deck, the highest point on the ship. With extraordinary views out to sea and across the ship, this bar is certainly one to wow adults and children alike. You’ll find a range of deck games here too, including a putting green.

Cabana also offers brilliant views and features two horizon telescopes, perfect for spotting other ships and wildlife. The Panorama Pool Club hosts regular sailaway parties, complete with live music, and features a fully stocked bar offering drinks for all ages. The spacious aft deck is also perfect for dolphin watching or stargazing. Note that the pool itself is for adults only.

Are any of Cunard’s bars and lounges adults-only?

Each ship has one or two adults-only evening venues: the G32 nightclub on Queen Mary 2, the Yacht Club on Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth, and the Bright Lights Society cabaret bar on Queen Anne. Children are also not permitted in the casino or in Churchill’s Cigar Lounge.

On a Cunard holiday, you’ll find plenty of ways to spend your time as a family. While the children’s clubs are ideal for younger guests when they want to be with new friends and play games, the majority of venues on all the ships are family friendly. So you can still enjoy an elegant pre-dinner cocktail before heading to your restaurant with all the family. And you can still dance the night away in the Queens Room, knowing your children are more than welcome.
