Cunard's London Theatre at Sea is a celebration of all things theatre and performance, a veritable feast of dance, song and - of course - drama. Guests on this special Event Voyage are treated not just to the usual West-End style performances in signature on board venues, but a variety of workshops, singalongs, shows, Q&As and much, much more crammed into the usual  days on board.

Ahead of London Theatre at Sea's return, we look back at our highlights from the 2022 voyage, and eagerly await a new host of special guests on board Queen Mary 2.

A few of my favourite songs...

Putting a twist on the usual ‘In conversation with...’ format, stars including Sharon D. Clarke and Matt Henry hosted intimate performances of songs that have a special meaning to them, interweaved with stories and career highlights. These understated, personal performances were often the favourite for many of our guests.

An award-worthy show

Another highlight was The Oliviers in Concert: a 70 minute extended evening show that featured all the performers from the London Theatre at Sea line up, as well as Queen Mary 2 residents, the Royal Court Theatre Company, who opened the show with a newly choreographed piece from Mary Poppins. Each of the performers sang some of their biggest numbers from their careers including pieces from Wicked, The Lion King, Chicago and Phantom of the Opera. This stunning show received two full standing ovations - brava!

Getting involved

One of the most magical things about London Theatre at Sea is that guests don't just sit and watch - they can get involved, and Tom Carradine's Cockney Singalong was the perfect opportunity to do just that. Hosted in the bright and airy Carinthia Lounge, the singalong had a fantastic atmosphere, with several stars of the week joining in alongside our guests. Tom Carradine tours the UK with this special singalong, featuring a mixture of well-known hits, musical numbers, and old Cockney classics. Every seat was filled and the drinks flowed as everyone present sang at the top of their voices!

Meeting the stars of the show

On the final day of the voyage, our headliner performers set themselves up in Queen Mary 2's Grand Lobby to say a fond farewell to our guests and take photographs. Hundreds of programmes were signed for guests to take home as the perfect memento of a truly unique holiday.

Looking to the next performance

In 2024 Queen Mary 2 will host a whole new cast of Olivier Award winners, nominees, and up-and-coming performers, including household names Jason Manford and Patricia Hodge. Familiar faces Tom Carradine and David McMullan return to lead more singalongs and dance workshops, and an all-new Oliviers in Concert takes to the stage.
