This weather means that layers are a good idea when it comes to packing, giving you plenty of options. The price of food and drink in Spain can vary. Barcelona, the capital of the Catalonia region, is one of the more expensive cities. However, even here the cost of a meal is lower than in many other European cities. The key to keeping things affordable, usually anywhere abroad, is to do as the locals do. Try some authentic, tasty tapas at cafés tucked away on side streets. Choose a frosty glass of Spanish cerveza, or local wine, instead of an imported beverage. When you’re looking for something sweet, churros from a street vendor served with chocolate or dulce de leche will prove extremely moreish.
